Peak Indigenous Relations & Reconciliation Policy

Peak Construction Group is dedicated to building long-term trusted relationships with local Indigenous People and communities. Our ongoing commitment to act in ways that align with and respect Indigenous rights and interests is detailed below in our Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation Policy.

Indigenous Reconciliation

Peak acknowledges the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and recognize that Indigenous communities have unique rights and a distinct relationship to the land. Peak acknowledges the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC): Calls to Action and is committed to reconciliation through meaningful collaboration with Indigenous communities. Peak acknowledges Indigenous people’s cultural systems and traditions since time immemorial, we recognize the injustice and hardships of colonization, and we are committed to carry out our work with respect for Indigenous rights.

We believe that education and awareness is a key element of reconciliation. We are committed to carry out our work activity in awareness of UNDRIP, the TRC Calls to Action, and local Indigenous cultural systems and traditions.

Indigenous Relations

Peak has a long history of working with local communities and is committed to building long-term trusted relationships with local Indigenous communities in a manner that respects Indigenous rights and interests.

Peak believes that collaboration and meaningful engagement achieve long-term trusted relationships. The following principles guide the way our teams engage with local Indigenous communities:

  • Respect – We will respect the Indigenous traditions and cultures and views where we work.
  • Honesty – We will speak the truth and act truthfully.
  • Open & Timely Communication – We will act with transparency & regard for the time of others.

All Personnel conducting business with local Indigenous communities will ensure meaningful engagement in alignment with Peak’s Indigenous Relations & Reconciliation Policy.

Indigenous Cultural Awareness

As part of our approach to Indigenous Relations & Reconciliation, we are committed to build awareness of Indigenous cultures and traditions through a phased approach starting with Leadership, Management and Key Personnel Indigenous Cultural Awareness Training, followed by Indigenous Relations Orientation and Training for all employees.
